Your wrestler's first tournament is a big day — for them and for you. A little preparation goes a long way toward making it fun instead of stressful. Here's everything a VegasWC parent should know.
Tournaments run on multiple mats at once. Your wrestler will be assigned to a bracket and a mat. Listen for mat callers and watch the bracket board — matches can move faster than you expect.
Most youth tournaments use a modified double-elimination format, so your child is guaranteed at least two matches even after a loss.
The single best thing you can do is stay positive. Win or lose:
A tough first tournament is completely normal. Many of our best high school wrestlers lost early and often when they started.
Talk about what they learned, grab a good meal, and get back in the room that week. Consistency is what turns a nervous beginner into a confident competitor.
